Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies – TVG Analyst Caleb Keller

1) #2 Serengeti Empress- This filly has been dynamite in her early career. She won her last two races by over 30 lengths and hasn’t even been asked for her best. Forget about her 4th at Saratoga. They ran her back too quickly after a maiden win. Plus, Castellano dropped his whip and she was never meant to be a sprinter, anyways. Churchill is her home track and she scrapes the paint like a pro with Lanerie. The inside post and home court advantage makes her my pick.

2) #4 Restless Rider- Here’s another filly in this year’s race who’s shown a scary amount of talent. She got stopped cold on the turn in the Debutante at Churchill and still demolished the field by 11 lengths. She didn’t beat the strongest Grade 1 field at Keeneland, but she did it with style.

3) #10 Bellafina- This big bodied filly is all horse power – $800k worth to be exact. She’s won her last three stakes races all by open length margins. She’s still a bit green though, as she’s been erratic in the stretch and sometimes not switching leads correctly. That being said, she’s still pulled away from top tier California fillies.

Pick: #2 Serengeti Empress

#2 Serengeti Empress- I’ve been waiting patiently to see what this filly will do for an encore after her record setting romp in the Pocahontas. I would be shocked if she missed the top 3 with what she’s shown up to now.
