It’s hard to imagine a filly being more impressive in her first two starts than Newspaperofrecord was in New York. She absolutely crushed in both races. And in her debut she showed she’s not a need-the-lead type.
Of the foreign invaders, Lilly’s Candle is a three-time winner with a Group One win already on her resume. It appears she has tactical speed, and can finish – always a good package.
Summering was very good in her two wins at Del Mar, then threw in a clunker in the Surfer Girl. She did have a bit of an uncomfortable, inside trip. She’s big and a good looking filly. Physically, she does not look like a two-year old. With a clean trip, she might bounce back.
