Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf – TVG Analyst Candice Hare

This is a race for which people often focus on the European runners. But, as a whole I haven’t been impressed by the European juveniles apart from one or two standouts.  Ballydoyle’s Anthony Van Dyck figures to get the most attention in this spot, but his form doesn’t stand out in a way that will justify his likely short price, his draw does him no favors and he is a very quirky type whose unprofessional manners could get the best of him in the largest field he’s faced to date. Arthur Kitt appeals to more of the Europeans given he’s likely to go off at a much larger price and his form lines are right on par with those of the O’Brien runner. His most recent run was a complete no show, but many will chalk it up to the distance which will further inflate his price.

The American team look stronger than typical for this race with Forty Under appealing most to me after an impressive victory over a yielding turf in the G3 Pilgrim. He’s progressed with every run to date and is more seasoned than most of these over the distance. At a bigger price, Uncle Benny appeals off the eye-catching victory after switching to the turf.

TOP 3:

#4 Forty Under

#1 Arthur Kitt

#2 Uncle Benny

Pick: #1 Arthur Kitt
