San Felipe (G2) at Santa Anita: The results of this race were a precursor of my handicapping results for the day, as I allocated my entire budgeted bankroll for the race on MCKINZIE to win. So despite crossing the wire first, the Stewards decided after a 17-minute review (in a unanimous decision!) that he would be disqualified and placed second for causing interference with BOLT D’ORO. The only good news is that both of these immensely talented three-year-olds will square off again next Saturday in the Santa Anita Derby (G1)!
Tampa Bay Derby (G2) at Tampa Bay Downs: This was the race that really hurt me since I didn’t have one dollar allocated to my longshot value play (QUIP, $40.20). Ouch! Hope you’re were smarter than me!
Gotham (G3) at Aqueduct: The results were not illogical, but I was nowhere close in this race. It happens.
Santa Anita Handicap (G1) at Santa Anita: Nice to cash at least a couple of tickets (win bet plus exacta) to salvage some of the day as ACCELERATE ($7.00) an extremely consistent son of LOOKIN AT LUCKY, dominated the Big Cap as the 123 lb. highweight.
