Multiple stakes winning millionaire Wonder Gadot will make her return to the races on March 8 at Oaklawn Park in an allowance event over a mile. It will be her first race since the Breeders’ Cup Distaff (G1) at Churchill Downs on November 3.
Wonder Gadot has had a strong career, placing in grade 1 races on both dirt and turf. She was second in the Natalma Stakes (G1) on the grass at Woodbine at two and was well regarded going into the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1) but finished sixth after checking hard in the stretch. She concluded her two-year-old season with a win in the grade 2 Demoiselle at Churchill.
At three, Wonder Gadot ran second in a mighty tussle with Monomoy Girl in the Kentucky Oaks (G1), dueling down the stretch with that runner before ultimately falling short. She went on to narrowly miss by a head in the Woodbine Oaks, then won the Queen’s Plate and Prince of Wales Stakes over colts with blinkers added. She skipped the final leg of the Canadian Triple Crown in favor of a run at American males in the Travers Stakes (G1). She ran 10th, then 3rdin the grade 1 Cotillion and 9thin the Breeders’ Cup.
#6 Wonder Gadot, by Medaglia d’Oro and out of the Vindication mare Loving Vindication, has a record of 16: 5 – 4 – 4 and $1.4 million in earnings. The Mark Casse-trainee will break from post 6 in the eighth race at Oaklawn on Friday. She faces six other rivals.
#2 Christmas Sky has won five of her 10 lifetime starts; the daughter of Bodemeister is a stakes winner but hasn’t won since March 31 of last year. #4 Clever Serve (To Honor and Serve) defeated Christmas Sky here over this trip last out on February 1. She has finished top three in 21 of 28 lifetime starts. #5 Rose of Malibu has been on the board in all five tries over this strip. #7 Go Google Yourself is coming off a victory over 1 1/16 miles at the Fair Grounds on December 29. She has placed in nine of 12 starts; the well-bred daughter of Into Mischief also worked a bullet on February 26.
