$150,000 New York Stallion Series

Aqueduct

Race 3 (Saturday, December 15, 2018: 1:18 p.m./ET: 10:18 a.m./PT)

Six furlongs on the main track (New York-bred two-year-old fillies)

A half-dozen New York-bred fillies dash six panels in the feature race on the Saturday card at Aqueduct. Trainer Jeremiah Englehart saddles half the field, so we’ll begin our analysis with one of his three entrants, the first one whom draws the rail:

#1 PARTY LIKE GRANDMA has finished behind #4 SASSY AGNES and #6 CARTWHEELIN LULU in her last two races. Prior to that, the first two races of her career were gate to wire scores, including a New-York bred stake at Saratoga. From the rail, maybe new pilot Dylan Davis will be aggressive and send her to the lead?

#2 L.A. PAGE is the second of the three Englehart trainees. She won her first career race in a maiden $50K claimer at Belmont before failing to make an impact in the one-mile Maid of the Mist Stakes. In both career races, she was off akwardly out of the gate, so he’ll need a good beginning this time and the right set up to get the job done.

#3 SHE’S SO SHEA D broke her maiden by a half-length in her career debut, a New York-bred maiden special weight over a sloppy track at Belmont. Most recently, the Jason Servis trainee acted up before the race and was a no-show in the Key Cents Stakes over a fast track, finishing 48 lengths behind #4 SASSY AGNES. That last run is an obvious concern, but her barn brings her back in this spot and is winning at a 32% clip for the year.

#4 SASSY AGNES has won three races in a row, all against New York-bred stakes company. Daughter of CENTRAL BANKER has an improving Beyer Speed Figure pattern and showed speed in all three starts, so expect her to be up close to the pace again. Junior Alvarado rides and he wins at a 27% clip when teaming up with trainer Linda Rice. The class of the field.

#5 FORGOTTEN HERO went off at 11/1 in her career debut and took the field gate to wire after setting an uncontested pace, winning the race by five-and-a-half lengths. She is the rare runner not on Lasix and now jumps straight into a stakes race so this race will tell us how good she really is.

#6 CARTWHEELIN LULU broke her maiden at first asking for the Englehart barn before winning the Joseph A Gimma Stakes at Belmont in her second lifetime race. She dueled on the lead in her most recent start, the Maid of the Mist Stakes, and faded to fifth as the favorite. She draws outside of the other speed and should be able to make her own good trip. Reasons to like this one on the cutback.

SELECTIONS

  1. #6 CARTWHEELIN LULU – Stakes winner cuts back in distance.
  2. #4 SASSY AGNES – Three time stakes winner is obviously dangerous.
  3. #5 FORGOTTEN HERO – Maiden win last month was terrific.

LONGSHOT VALUE PLAY- #3 SHE’S SO SHEA D – Trained by high percentage conditioner.
