Los Alamitos Race Course
Race 5 (Saturday, December 15, 2018: 5:28 p.m./ET; 2:28 p.m./PT)
One mile on the main track (California-bred or California-sired two-year-old fillies)
Closing weekend of the Fall daytime thoroughbred meet at Los Alamitos Race Course is upon us, with good-sized fields and mandatory payouts in all exotic pools on Sunday. Races carded throughout the year for this ‘Golden State Series’ is a good reminder why it pays to own a Cal-bred, so let’s try to win some gold with our analysis:
#1 HOTITUDE broke her maiden sprinting two starts back in a Cal-bred maiden special weight over this track and most recently ran third in the seven-furlong Golden State Juvenile Fillies at Santa Anita. This is her first time routing; expect her to be forwardly placed.
#2 GOTTA GE LUCKY is still a maiden after six lifetime races and has finished behind #1 HOTITUDE, #3 KOOKIE GAL and #4 CREATIVE INTINCT in a few of those races. There’s a good amount of speed in here and this filly will be sitting off of it, but I still believe she is too slow to win.
#3 KOOKIE GAL removes blinkers for trainer Peter Miller after a five-length loss against 11 others in the Jimmy Durante (G3) going a mile on turf. Her only other start was a head victory against Cal-bred maiden special weight runners on the lawn at Santa Anita. By Grade I turf monster BOISTEROUS out of a COMIC STRIP mare that won two career races on grass, it’s clear why Miller has only raced her on the turf. She’ll need to show she likes the dirt…but if she does, she’s a major player.
#4 CREATIVE INSINCT lost by 15 lengths in her only race going a route of ground, the Jimmy Durante (G3), but note that race was on grass. This filly is by CREATIVE CAUSE out of a SWISS YODELER mare, which suggests she can be okay routing, and she’ll be happy to get back on dirt since her three prior dirt efforts weren’t shabby.
#5 TIME FOR SUZIE lost by 53 lengths in her only route race. a starter allowance, optional claiming event at Del Mar on November 30. She wheels back in this spot for a try against stakes company. Longshot.
#6 ALL TEA ALL SHADE will be going farther than six-and-a-half furlongs for the first time in her three race career. She broke her maiden sprinting two starts back and most recently won a starter allowance optional claiming race from well off the pace. Will try to do her best work late.

- #4 KOOKIE GAL – Has the talent to win it.
- #2 GOTTA BE LUCKY – Maiden might get the right trip off the pace.
