RECAP OF SELECTIONS FROM 06/23/18

San Carlos (G2) at Santa Anita: Another weekend and another graded stakes win for the Bob Baffert barn as AMERICAN ANTHEM ($3.80) continued his love affair with the unique seven furlong distance of this race, pushing his career earnings north of $600,000 (from just 10 lifetime starts). However, I missed cashing my recommended exacta plays as the two recently claimed John Sadler runners (ST. JOE BAY and HORSE GREEDY) finished second and third, respectively.

Singspiel (G3) at Woodbine: SHAHROZE ($13.20) winning didn’t surprise me as I had him ranked second in my selections with the comment “possible upsetter” but my wagering strategy did fail me as I went all in on DANISH DYNAFORMER, who finished off the board.

Wild Applause at Belmont Park: Managed to extract excellent value out of this small field by recommending a $20 win wager on GOT STORMY ($5.40) as well as a $5 exacta with second place finisher PUNKED (paid $8.20 for $1).

Ohio Derby (G3) at Thistledown: The most frustrating result of the day occurred here as I correctly tabbed CORE BELIEFS ($7.60) to win, but couldn’t properly connect the dots to cash any of my recommended wagers in the race. Wasted opportunity to say the least.
