Six Horse Field in Correction Stakes at Aqueduct

By Emily Shields

The six-furlong Correction Stakes at Aqueduct on Saturday drew a field of six, with half the field of fillies and mares figuring to draw serious support.

#1 Sower (8-5) is a four-year-old daughter of Flatter trained by Linda Rice. She is three for five at the distance, and is a speedy sort, often going to the lead or dueling for that position early. Her last victory was a stakes race at Belmont Park in October.

#3 Yorkiepoo Princess, by Kantharos, will hit the track for Edward Barker. Like several of these she exits the Interborough Stakes on January 25; this gal ran fifth that day. She does best on the lead, and won two in a row in November including a stakes race on this course.

#4 Sounds Delicious, by Yes Its True, is the second of four Linda Rice entrants in the race. She is the defending champion of this event, having won it March 17 of last year by eight lengths while on the lead the whole way. She tired last out to be second in an allowance event, but that was over a longer distance.

Others in the field include #2 Honor Way (8-1), a daughter of Caleb’s Posse also for Linda Rice. She ran poorly against graded company last out, but ran well over this course in January and comes from off the pace in a field full of speed.

#5 Startwithsilver (6-1) is a six-year-old mare and a late runner who is four for six at the distance. She was third in this race last year, and has since started only four times. She was off from June until February 16, and while she finished fifth that day, she probably needed the start, especially after running seven wide into the lane. She is the fourth from the Rice outfit.

#6 Filibustin (15-1) rounds out the field for Gary Contessa. The five-year-old daughter of Bustin Stones won here two back over this trip, than ran sixth against stakes competition last out. She also figures to show speed and is two for three on the track.
