Recap of Selections from 12/26/18

Malibu (G1) at Santa Anita: Opening Day at Santa Anita is always one of the major highlights on the annual Southern California racing calendar and in the marquee race of the day,MCKINZIE ($4.40) became racing’s newest millionaire after blowing away 13 other three-year-olds, with his next target being (perhaps) the $12 million Pegasus World Cup (G1) later this month at Gulfstream Park.

San Antonio (G2) at Santa Anita: While all the betting action was squarely focused on BATTLE OF MIDWAY and DABSTER in this race, astute readers of the TVG e-newsletter happily collected a $2 win mutuel of $15 on GIFT BOX twenty five times! Happy Holidays!

Mathis Brother Mile (G2) at Santa Anita: Got home one-half of the exacta I recommended playing when heavily favored RIVER BOYNE ($2.80) won, but failed to connect the dots when GIDU didn’t uphold his end of the bargain by not finishing second.

La Brea (G1) at Santa Anita: CA-breds ran one-two in this final 2018 Grade 1 race in the country for three-year-old fillies, with SPICED PERFECTION ($12.80) upsetting the heavily favored and previously undefeated (five-for five) KY-bred, DREAM TREE.
